Clickers for Students Students can purchase new clickers, also known as ResponseCard RF keypad, at participating campus-area bookstores for under $50. (Used clickers may be available for less.) This price includes a transferrable lifetime license fee.
Alternatively, students with wireless laptops or PDAs can purchase and install software for "virtual clickers." See vPad Sofware below for more details.
College/Department Purchases
OSU colleges, departments, and campuses interested in purchasing clickers and antennas should contact Carrie Greenaway (phone: 330-884-6027) at Turning Technologies about special "OSU department pricing" before placing purchase orders. OIT Classroom Services can also provide details about budgeting clicker purchase for an upcoming fiscal year or grant project. In some cases, departments will want to buy clickers or vPad licenses and keep that equipment inside a certain room -- that might be utilized by multiple classes in the same day or week -- rather than have students purchase them.
As an alternative to purchasing a clicker device, students have the option to respond with a "virtual clicker" running on a wireless laptop or PDA. Use of a virtul clicker requires installation of TurningPoint vPad software, which is compatible with the TurningPoint 2006 software that is used to display questions and collect student responses.
TurningPoint vPad software (and its included seat license) may be cheaper than buying a clicker device for students who already have compatible laptops or PDAs. Contact campus-area bookstores for availability.
